The only thing we liked during our stay was the fact that it was extremely close to the venue of our evening destination.

The room was tired and shabby, and the bed was appalling. We could literally not seperate ouselves as the mattress sagged so badly. The bathroom door handle was virtually hanging off. The reception Staff ignored us for at least two minutes when we attempted to check in, carrying on thier own conversation.

    5.0

Convenience to location visited. Car parking.

Room was disappointing with a large unattended water stain on ceiling and bathroom with no proper shower. Breakfast plentiful but greasy. Kitchen area needed a good clean. Daytime receptionist not very welcoming. TV very poor reception. Hotel in need of a proper makeover to reflect modern expectations within an historic setting.

Freindly man on Reception helped us out with train times. The pool was nice and clean. The hotel was secure with codes on the doors. The bar ws nice and clean too.

    No complaints at all

    Clean. Friendly staff. Nice hotel

The bed was very hard, I don't think it was good value for money.

Gentleman on reception was very helpful - he carried my case to my room, found out bus times for me and stored my case after my stay. The food in the restaurant was very good and nicely presented. I was given a small double room rather than the single room.

My room was a bit dark with dim lightbulbs. I would have preferred some salad options in the restaurant menu. The single room (from which I was upgraded) would not have been worth the price.

Breakfast, the only meal I experienced, was surprisingly good. The shower was OK. The location was good and the building both historical and charming. The staff were responsive and tried hard.

The room was fairly spartan, and the bed was hard like a rock. The bath was too small, The TV only had about 4 stations which was annoying and the wifi was non existent. The general interiors are tatty and need work.

Price per room expensive when we had no use of swimming pool due electrical problems; double bed quite small and terrible mattress; my sister had a view on her car parked outside her window; food ok but not great...overall, it would have been cheaper to stay in a b & b as I choose this hotel for the swimming pool which was out of use when we wanted to use it after 6pm...

Problem of communication between Management and reception staff so we were not told that electrical problem in swimming pool area at time of check in...choice of food not great, staff needs training regarding servicing customers at time of evening meals

proximity to local attractions/sightseeing.Friendliness of staff. Location of dining area on balcony with views

tiredness of bathroom , shower poor, tiles cracked. webbing beneath bed hanging down

The public areas were clean and tidy. The staff were friendly and the breakfast and restaurant were good

The room was in need of a facelift. Bathroom taps were old and scaley. The TV was old fashioned and too far away from the bed (need a flatscreen on the wall). room needed redecorating.

Staff in the restaurant were very attentive and charming. Excellent location right in the middle of the high street. Parking is good, as parking is a great problem in Lewes and many b/b and small hotels have no parking facilities.

We were in the annex overlooking the car park. There was a function on, accross the car park in the main building. It was warm so their windows were open, so very noisy. The rooms in the annex were extremly clean, but very dated especially the bathroom , with tiles broken and carpets faded and worn in the bedroom.

The staff were very attentive, partcularly the restaurant staff and the chef.

Rooms clean and comfortable- but need maintenance, door didn't lock and shower broken

The White Hart Hotel is a friendly little hotel, convenient for town. The staff were effiecient and friendly and the gym and swimming pool were a nice addition to the hotel.

I felt that the hotel was overpriced for what it was, there were a few small details that let it down, like the food was fairly standard.

Walking distance form railway station. A good base to attend a wedding reception and the Brighton marathon. (one of my party did not come, so we cancelled the single room a few days in advance and made do with 2 doubles for 4 people.)

Would have liked an earlier cooked breakfast on Sunday, particularly porridge for a marathon runner. Due to time constraints we had to make do with continental BF, but I can understand the chef not wanting an earlier start before cooking Sunday lunch later.

    Central location

The hotel is dirty. There was a plastic bag full of stinking nappies left on the balcony. Housekeeping did not hoover the room. TV in the room is old, only has 4 channels and no remote control. There is a Carvery in the evening which we tried on our first night, and the meat was inedible. We are not the first to complain. The local people we spoke to are ashamed of the hotel but say that nothing will be done as there are no other central hotels in Lewes and therefore the hotel is always quite full.

Good to have free parking and a nice homely bar

Room 21 was acessed via three sets of stairs rather difficult for some visitors
